Vibram Tread

VIBRAM

The famous Carrarmato Vibram tread design was first developed in 1936 following a fatal climbing accident caused by inadequate footwear. The first design was patented and launched in 1937 with the backing of Pirelli Tyres. Today they produce over 32 million pairs of soles a year.

65 years of extreme product testing in the environment and under the conditions where each design is intended to be used, has followed. This is why Musto has chosen Vibram’s technology over any other manufacturer and why Vibram, like Musto are a market leader.

All of our Shooting Footwear uses the same design. Vibram’s technologists initially start with a hand drawing. This is transferred to a CAD system, resin prototypes made, followed by samples moulds and extensive field and laboratory testing. Every aspect of the design is analysed, the type of lugs, the curve and roll, braking areas, stability and ultimately the all round performance level. Finally, the production moulds are made for the units to be manufactured at highly specialised factories around the world.
